Frank O'Donovan Psychotherapist

About me - Psychotherapist

I am an experienced psychotherapist and counsellor accredited by UPCA and a registered member of UKCP.

Prior to becoming a therapist I enjoyed a long career in finance in Central London. I changed careers in my early 50s and gained a Master's degree in psychotherapy and full accreditation as a psychotherapist.

I have worked in a wide variety of counselling settings including Guy's Hospital at London Bridge, Pentonville Prison, a bereavement centre and university where I worked with a wide range of people of different ages, social, ethnic and cultural backgrounds. The issues and concerns I have worked with include depression, anxiety, stress, bereavement, loss, crisis, sexual abuse, relationship issues, lack of meaning in life. I also worked at a centre for survivors of sexual abuse and male rape.

How I work - Psychotherapy:

The focus of the work will be to explore the concerns and issues you may have about your life in a safe and supportive setting. The work will be collaborative and our aim will be to help you understand more about who you are and who you want to be.
While we each carry our own hopes and expectations of life, sometimes our lives can feel empty and meaningless, we seem to be drifting and disappointed. Starting counselling and experiencing a therapeutic relationship could be the start of healing and growth and discovering a different approach to life.

How I work - Clinical Supervision:
I believe that supervision is a collaborative process involving observation, evaluation and self-assessment building on the strengths and talents of the supervisee. Supervision ensures that the supervisee works in a competent manner in which ethical standards and professional practice are used to promote and protect the welfare of the client and the supervisee.

Supervision is an opportunity for the therapist to reflect on their work, to become more aware of the therapeutic processes and relational dynamics, and to gain greater confidence in understanding the therapeutic relationship.

I offer sensitive, respectful and ethically aware supervision sessions, and I actively support your professional development.
The sessions last 50 minutes and the fee is £60 per session.
